Before you set sail from Mombasa, journey into the heart of Kenya's most storied wildlife country. From Nairobi, travel to Amboseli National Park, where great herds of big-tusked elephants roam the plains beneath the snow-capped crown of Mount Kilimanjaro. Two nights here bring game drives across marshes, open savannah and glittering dry lake beds alive with pelicans, kingfishers and crowned cranes. Then continue to Tsavo East — a vast, red-dusted wilderness where lions, giraffes and buffalo move through untamed country. Three unforgettable nights among the great herds, before you step aboard.
A classic Kruger safari for those short on days but not on ambition. Overnight near Johannesburg, then fly into the heart of the bush to Lion Sands Narina Lodge — nine stilted suites suspended above the Sabie River among century-old trees. Set across the only private reserve spanning both Sabi Sand and Kruger National Park, this is prime leopard country, with elephants wading the river frontage and lions prowling its banks.
